Israel is backed by international public opinion… Vaccine supply to Palestinian medical staff

In response to criticism of discrimination against Palestine by Israel, which is currently vaccinating against Corona 19 at the fastest rate in the world, it has decided to provide some of the vaccine to Palestinian medical staff.

According to local media such as Ynet on the 30th (local time), the Israeli government has decided to provide the Palestinian Authority (PA) with a Corona 19 vaccine that will be administered to 2,500 medical personnel. However, a PA official who requested anonymity explained that it has not yet been decided whether the vaccine will be distributed to Gaza, governed by Hamas.

The Jerusalem Post also cited Israeli military sources and reported that the vaccine would be provided twice, with 10,000 doses in the future, for a total of 20,000 doses. Through this, 10,000 people could be vaccinated. The newspaper said the vaccine for Palestine would be given to medical staff in the west bank of the Jordan River, including Jewish settlements.

Israel is vaccinating at such a high rate that 30% of the population has completed the first dose. Israel has secured a large volume of vaccinations on the condition of providing real-time data on vaccinations to vaccine manufacturer Pfizer and is rapidly vaccinating. The number of primary inoculations counted up to this day was 2,96,1917, which is close to 30% of the total population (about 9.3 million). The number of second inoculations was 1,726,510

However, the Israeli government has been criticized by the international community for excluding Palestine from the vaccination process. PA Foreign Minister Riyadh Al Malki criticized Israel for avoiding providing vaccines to Palestine at a recent monthly UN Security Council meeting. The PA has also raised the same issue at the World Health Organization (WHO) meeting.
