KFA held a general meeting of delegates at 10:30 am on the 27th at the Seoul Newspaper at the Soccer Center. Chairman Chung Mong-gyu began his third term as the 54th president of the Korea Football Association.
KFA announced the composition of the executive department, and appointed 22 executives and 2 auditors, up to 6 vice presidents, 5 subcommittee chairs, and 11 board members. The 54th executive department consists of 29 directors (including the chairman) and 2 auditors. At the general meeting of the delegates, the appointment of the remaining seven executives was delegated to Chairman Chung Mong-gyu.
Shin A-young stands out in the new executive team. KFA has newly appointed people in various fields, including female executives, broadcasting, game supervisors, and administrators. Shin A-young was admitted to the KFA executive department this time in recognition of his expertise in the field of broadcasting.
Shin Ayoung joined SBS Sports in 2011 and conducted various sports programs. After leaving the company in 2015, he worked as a freelancer and held soccer and sports related events.
The six vice-presidents unprecedentedly appointed people with expertise in each business area. Eunah Hong (41, Women’s Soccer & Referee) Professor at Ewha Womans University, Byeongji Kim (51, Living Football & Expansion) Byeongji Kim, Chairman of Sports Culture Promotion Agency, Daeeun Kim (56, Provincial Association) President of Jeonbuk Football Association, Hyunjae Cho (61, Daegwan & Football Center) ) Vice-Chairman, Lee Yong-soo (62, technology & strategy) Sejong University professor, and Choi Young-il (55, competition management) were appointed. Professor Eunah Hong became KFA’s first female vice president.
The five subcommittee chairs aimed at maintaining consistency in the implementation of existing policies. Previously, Pan-gon Kim (52), Chairman of the Power Reinforcement Committee, Geung-Yeon Jo (60), Chairman of the Competition, Daewoo Yoo (69), Chairman of the Ethics Committee, and Changhee Seo (58), were re-elected. Lee Chun-soo (40), former head of the Incheon United Electric Power Reinforcement Office, was newly appointed as the chairman of the Social Contribution Committee. Chairman Kim Pan-gon left the position of vice chairman to focus on preparing for the World Cup.
Director Park Kyung-hoon (60), whose internal affairs were announced in advance, was appointed as the executive director in charge of the association’s housekeeping, and Jeon Han-jin (51), Secretary General, was reappointed.
The board of directors has also changed drastically. Jo Yeon-sang (54) Secretary General of the Professional Football Federation, Park Park (55) Former Seoul E-Land FC Head, Oh Seung-in (56) Kwangwoon University Director, Yang Seung-woon (59) Kwang Driving School Manager, Han Sang-shin (60) Former Director Lee Dong-jung, Choi Kwang-won (55) ) Director Daedongcho was appointed to represent each part. In addition, Chae-hee Park (48), professor of Hanche University, and Jin-hee Kim (40), game supervisor, will join the board.
For the administrative audit, Kang Seong-deok (56), president of Chungbuk Football Association and Lee Tae-ho (60), former vice president of Samil Accounting Firm, will be reappointed.
Regarding the appointment of the executive department, Chairman Chung said, “Over 60% of the board of directors has been newly formed, except for the subcommittee chairs that require continuity of policy. “I plan to lead the change in KFA by making the average age younger in their early 50s while employing female executives, including the first female vice president.”
In addition, today’s general meeting of the delegates revised the articles of incorporation on the term of office of executives. The existing executives’ term of office was 4 years, but the 54th executive department changed the term of office of executives excluding the chairman to 2 years. The intention is to determine whether or not to continue working by evaluating the two years of activities.
Meanwhile, the general meeting of the delegates approved the 2020 settlement amount. In 2020, KFA recorded an income of 66.58 billion won and an expenditure of 70.29 billion won. Compared to the previous year’s 2019 settlement plan (income 94.15 billion won and expenditure 92.2 billion won), income decreased by 29.4% and expenditure decreased by 23.8%.
In terms of income, as various competitions and competitions were canceled due to Corona 19, the entrance fee revenue decreased by 78.2% to 60 million won, 99.3% compared to the previous year (2019), and the broadcasting right revenue to 2.23 billion won. On the other hand, it minimized losses by reducing expenses by about 22 billion won through efforts to reduce costs.
A KFA official said, “Even in a poor situation where major incomes are drastically reduced in the aftermath of Corona 19, all executives and employees participated to reduce costs, and we were able to mitigate the extent of losses that were initially expected.”
