[국제]Germany recommends AstraZeneca vaccine’only under 65′

For the AstraZeneca vaccine, for which data on the effectiveness of prevention for the elderly are lacking, German authorities have recommended that only those under the age of 65 are vaccinated.

The German health minister predicts that the vaccine shortage will continue until at least April.

Prior to the final decision by the German Immunization Commission, the AstraZeneca vaccine was tentatively recommended to be vaccinated only for those under the age of 65.

This is because the clinical trial data for the elderly are insufficient and the effectiveness of prevention cannot be accurately determined.

There is also a prospect that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) could make the same recommendations for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Recently, some German media reported that the vaccine was only 8% effective in preventing older people.

German health minister Jens Sfan said the corona vaccine shortage will continue for at least 10 weeks.

As the vaccine shortage continues until at least April, the plan to vaccinate all Germans by this summer is expected to be revised.

Minister Sfan proposed to hold a meeting of the federal government and governors to discuss ways to secure vaccines, vaccination plans, and goals.

Prime Minister Angela Merkel convened a meeting of the governors on vaccination on the 1st of next month, and vaccine makers also decided to attend.

In Germany, about 17,000 new coronavirus cases per day came out on the 28th and 900 people died.

In the last week, 98 new confirmed cases per 100,000 people were double-digit in three months.

The German government plans to drop this number below 50.
