The US pharmaceutical company Regeneron announced on the 27th (local time) that an antibody treatment for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) developed by its company is effective against a mutant virus originating in the UK and South Africa.

Regeneron said in a statement that “REGEN-COV, an antibody therapy containing neutralizing antibodies’Imdebibab’ and’Kashirimibab’, is still effective for both strains.”

REGEN-COV is a well-known treatment used in the treatment of COVID-19 by former US President Donald Trump. In November of last year, it was urgently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment for COVID-19.

According to Reuters, researchers at Columbia University in New York also submitted a study that shows that Regeneron’s treatment is effective against mutant viruses.

However, according to this study, the case of’bamranibimab’ used in the Corona 19 antibody therapy developed by Eli Lilly was not effective against the mutant virus from South Africa.

On the other hand, George Jankopulos, Chief Scientific Officer of Regeneron (CSO), expressed confidence in the company’s antibody therapy, saying, “Data shows that REGEN-COV continues to neutralize the new mutant virus.
