It is reported that the European Union (EU) plans to restrict the entry of travelers from Japan to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
On the 26th (local time), Bloomberg News reported that it plans to exclude Japan from the list of countries that can visit the European region, taking into account the current situation of the Corona 19 pandemic (a global pandemic), citing an anonymous EU official. The policy will be approved at a meeting of EU member states in Brussels, Belgium on the 27th.
The EU plans to revise the’white list’, a list of countries in which travelers can visit the area, excluding most countries, including the United States and Japan, from the list. Accordingly, only 7 countries, including Korea, Australia, China, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, and Thailand, remain on the white list.
Bloomberg News said the EU’s decision was the impact of the re-proliferation of Corona 19 in Europe. The EU introduced measures to prevent non-essential entry of third-country travelers from mid-March last year, but advised member states to partially lift entry restrictions in July last year. Accordingly, EU member states have prepared a white list, reviewed every two weeks, and announced it in consideration of criteria such as the Corona 19 situation, trend of new cases, and response measures.
The spread of Corona 19 in Japan is seldom caught. On this day, the number of new corona19 confirmed cases in Japan was 3,853. Although it was less than before, there are concerns that the effect of issuing an emergency situation in 11 regions including the metropolitan area earlier this month is not immediately appearing.
