As a result, LG Display’s annual sales of last year amounted to 24,230 trillion won, an increase of 3% from the previous year of 2019 (about 16,7689 billion won). The annual operating loss was 291.16 billion won thanks to the surplus for the second consecutive quarter, reducing the deficit, which was about 1.3 trillion won in the previous year, by more than 1.3 trillion won. The net loss was KRW 70.6 billion.

Earlier, F&Guide, a financial information company, calculated LG Display’s 2020 operating loss (estimated value) at 40.8 billion won, which is significantly lower. In this regard, the company said, “This is because of the expansion of large and small-sized OLED shipments, strong demand for IT panels, and an increase in LCD panel prices.”

In fact, LG Display has a 99% market share of large organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels for global TVs. It is almost exclusively supplied. This market is gradually expanding thanks to a large increase in TV sales due to the effect of new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) pent-up (repressed demand explodes). The first half of this year is also expected to be successful.

In terms of market share of plastic-OLED (P-OLED) panels for automobiles, which are mainly used in medium-sized vehicles, LG Display is ranked first in the world with a share of over 20%. In the case of small P-OLED panels for smartphones, it started supplying to the Apple iPhone 12 series last year and is raising shipments thanks to strong iPhone sales.
