Heungkuk Life Insurance explained that it occurred because Kim Yeon-kyung did not recognize the local rules about the situation that he strongly appealed during the game.
Heungkuk Life Insurance won 3-1 (23-25 25-22 25-21 25-20) against GS Caltex in the 4th round of the 2020-2021 V-League Women’s Division held at Incheon Gyeyang Gymnasium on the 26th.
The scene in question came from the third set. While Heungkuk Life in the 3rd set was 9-5, Kim Yeon-kyung touched out in line with the opponent’s blocker’s hand and was recognized as a goal. However, as a result of reading the video, it was judged that Kim Yeon-kyung’s hand was touching the ball until the end, and it was corrected by Kim Yeon-kyung’s touchout.
Kim Yeon-kyung strongly appealed, saying she could not understand. In the end, the referee gave Kim Yeon-kyung a warning.
After the game, Kim Yeon-kyung explained, “In fact, I wasn’t very excited,” and said, “It was a case where the attacking player made a touch-out, but I heard that it was a local rule. In international competitions and other leagues, the attacker’s score was recognized, so it appealed.”
Park Mi-hee, director of Heungkuk Life Insurance, said, “With the introduction of video readings recently, it may seem that they are hitting the hands of an attacker at the end. Kim Yeon-kyung thought it was part of the technology, so she appealed.”
