A civic group made up of parents requested the Ministry of Education to give special thanks to Cho Min, the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, for corruption in the entrance exam for Pusan National University Medical School. Cho’s cancellation of admission was raised by raising a problem with the Ministry of Education’s position that the university should decide.
On the 25th of a civic group, the Ministry of Education requested a special audit of Busan National University
On the 25th, the National Assembly for the Fair Society (hereinafter referred to as the National Assembly) submitted a request for appreciation stating, “Please ask Pusan National University to cancel the admission of all members of the medical team in a special audit for the irregularities in the entrance examination of the Korean people.”
In a telephone interview with the JoongAng Ilbo on the same day, the requester, Lee Jong-bae, the representative of the people’s group, said, “The Ministry of Education has been making special audits from time to time for events that have had social impact.” .
Representative Lee said, “In the case of Jeong Yu-ra, the daughter of Choi Soon-sil (after the change of name), the Ministry of Education added 12 auditors to Ewha Womans University for about ten days. There is a precedent that Ewha Womans University has requested to do.”

The National Assembly argued that Pusan National University was not making a decision to cancel admission due to the Ministry of Education, which does not give special audits. Pusan National University adheres to the position that when a final judgment is issued by the court, it will be handled according to the laws and regulations. Representative Lee insisted that “Pusan National University should cancel Jo-min’s admission as it was revealed by the first trial ruling rather than the Supreme Court ruling.” He pointed out that “Busan National University has not taken any action because there was no request for cancellation of admission from the Ministry of Education.
In fact, a high-ranking official at Pusan National University said, “Ewha Womans University was able to cancel admission because the Ministry of Education sent an official letter requesting cancellation of admission to Ewha Womans University. There is nothing,” he said.
If the Ministry of Education rejects the request for a special audit, the National Assembly is planning to accuse Education Minister Yu Eun-hye of abandonment. Representative Lee argued, “As a result of the first court trial, the documents used by Cho-min for the admission of Busan National University were confirmed to be forged or false.” He argued, “It is a job abandonment for the Ministry of Education to take no action against corruption in the entrance exam.”
The opposition party also demanded a special audit from the Ministry of Education. Rep. Hwang Bo Seung-hee said, “Even if the Ministry of Education conducts its own audit, it is obvious that it has not taken any action against it.” .
On the other hand, the Ministry of Education is not making any moves, sticking to the existing position of “the university will decide” to the civic group’s demand for the cancellation of admission by Chomin.
