The People’s Power held an independent’public participation’ hearing for Candidate Park on the 24th, with members of the Party’s National Assembly Legislative Judicial Committee participating. At this hearing held at the National Assembly, Ho-young Joo said, “The ruling party is trying to blockade the iron wall without adopting a single witness applied by the opposition party, and to conduct an armed hearing. I think it seems.” Lee Jong-bae and lawyer Kim So-yeon (former Daejeon city councilor) attended the event.
Earlier, Lee and others claimed that in November 2016, candidate Park, who was a secretary of the Democratic Party together with the National Assembly Judiciary Committee at the time, insisted on the existence of the bar exam and inflicted assault and violent remarks on a high school student who requested an interview. Mr. Lee said, “Two of our students went to visit candidate Park and knelt down to find (Sashi Zonchi).” “All the candidates said,’Who are these XXs?’ and grabbed the leg and grabbed the bag and took a picture.” Insisted.
Candidate Park denied on the 5th that “(rather) I was almost assaulted.” Mr. Lee said, “I couldn’t even imagine that I would deny it so blatantly. Even at the hearing tomorrow, if you lie, you will be accused of special assault.” Regarding this, Rep. Je-won Jang criticized, “A member of the lawmaker who tramples a weak test student with assault and violence is not qualified as a member of the National Assembly, not as the Minister of Justice.”
Meanwhile, attorney Kim So-yeon argued that “Candidate Park assisted while knowing the relevant details” in relation to the allegations of’nominated donation’ from the Democratic Party Daejeon City Party raised during the 2018 local election. Attorney Kim revealed that candidate Park, who was in charge of the Democratic Party’s Daejeon City Party Chairman at the time, was recruited as a candidate for the Daejeon City Council, and that he had previously received a request for money from the candidate’s closest close. In this regard, Mr. Jeon and Mr. Byeon, who served as assistants to Candidate Park, were sentenced to prison terms for violating the Public Office Election Act.
Attorney Kim stressed that “Candidate Park knows exactly the details from my report at the time, but he did not restrain his aide at all, and the prosecution was not even subpoenaed.” In this regard, Candidate Park filed a lawsuit against lawyer Kim to claim damages for defamation, and an appeal trial is currently underway.

Rep. Kim Do-eup, secretary of the National Assembly’s judiciary committee, said, “The circumstances that the Democratic Party has so refused to apply for witnesses have been confirmed.” “It is true that Candidate Park resigns even now or President Moon Jae-in withdraws the nomination. That’s at least a way to the people.”
The power of the people argued that “if candidate Park is appointed as the minister, it will affect civil and criminal trials related to him.” Previously, Candidate Park was charged with exercising force against opposition party officials during the 2019 National Assembly fast track process. Candidate Park said in a written question-and-answer filed with the National Assembly on the 23rd, “even if he is appointed as the minister, he will not receive any reports.”
