The Italian government took such measures because it was estimated that a 10-year-old girl in Italy who used the video-sharing service TikTok died while playing choking games.

The supervisory agency pointed out that “TikTok’s terms and conditions stipulate that only people over the age of 13 can use the service, but TikTok does not take sufficient child protection measures.” He said, “I have sued Tik-Tok in December of last year in this regard,” and asked Tic-Tok to take measures to protect children by February 15th.
