Only 7 birdies and 11-under lead in difficult stadium courses

Lim Seong-jae (23) took the lead in the second round of the American Professional Golf (PGA) Tour American Express (total prize money of $6.7 million).
In the second round of the PGA West Stadium Course (par 72) in La Quinta, California, USA on the 23rd (Korean time), Lim Seong-jae scored 7 under par with only 7 birdies.
Lim Sung-jae, who has reached 133 strokes in the middle of the 11-under par, starts the third round with one stroke ahead of the second place group.
Lim Sung-jae, who was tied for 15th place with a 4-under-par 68 in the Nicklaus Tournament Course (par 72) the day before, flew on the more difficult of the two courses. Last March, Honda Classic winner Lim Seong-jae aims for a second victory in the PGA Tour.
Kim Si-woo, who recorded 4 under par 68 on the Nicklaus tournament course, is tied for second with 10 under par 134. On the first day, Brandon Haegi (USA), which was the sole number one, was followed by Nick Taylor (Canada), Tony Pinau (USA), and Abraham Anser (Mexico).
In the first round, Ahn Byung-hoon, who was tied for 2nd place, 1 stroke behind the sea, lost 1 stroke, 6 under par 138, and tied for 26th. 19-year-old Kim Joo-hyung, who came out as an invited player, failed to advance to the third round, reaching 142 at a 2-under par. Phil Miculson (USA), who hosted this competition, was also eliminated in the cut with a 2 over par 146. Korean-American Kevin Na, who won the Sony Open last week, was also unable to finish the third round with an even par 144. “Once my putt hasn’t worked well in the last few weeks, I think I was able to hit a good score today because my shots were good and my mid-range putts went really well.”
-Last year, we tied for 10th in this competition. What did you expect from returning to the tournament this year? What is different from the last game?
“Once I come to this course, I feel comfortable. It’s a course that suits me well and draws well, and I like both courses, so I think I can play with confidence.”
-If you can pick a memorable shot or a part that worked well today.
“Once the shot seemed to go well for 18 holes, Putt drew a line on the ball once today and hit it to match that line. I think that line helped a lot today.”
-How did you spend the year-end break?
“This time I was at my Atlanta house (not going to Korea) and spent practicing practice. This year, I had to self-isolate for two weeks when I entered Korea, so I spent well in the US.”
