Mocance refers to a travel theme that enjoys a break away from others by watching OTT (online video service) videos at a motel or delivering food to meetings. This explains why young consumers, who lack economic power, are increasingly interested in interiors and additional services comparable to hotels.
An official here said, “For those in their twenties, they have insufficient funding power compared to older generations. Recently, motels are providing facilities and services comparable to those of hotels,” he said.
In addition, 51% of respondents in their twenties said that they spent the funds accumulated by delaying overseas travel last year for domestic travel. Then, 41% of respondents said they spent it on living expenses, followed by shopping at 37%.
The average domestic travel expenses for two days and one night in their twenties were calculated at 265,800 won. The most expensive item was accommodation, which was 49% of the total cost.
