Corona 19 is causing a wind of change in the travel industry. Based on quarantine guidelines such as observing social distancing and wearing masks, it is an atmosphere where a small number of people are leaving rather than groups, and closer than far. In particular, the way of traveling in the 20s, which leads in terms of activity by generation, is also changing. Like’Deunglin’ and’Camrini’, they are expanding their extensions to mountaineering and camping, and more and more people visit small and medium-sized hotels such as motels to enjoy a break apart from others. It is the emergence of the so-called’Motel + Vacation’, the’Mocance’ group.

This trend also supports statistics. According to a recent survey conducted by Yeoohyeong, a platform for booking lodging and mobile tickets, 49% of app users in their 20s said that they first experienced Mocance last year when the sky was blocked.
It is second only to Hocance (50%) among various domestic travel products and trends that have emerged as a substitute for overseas travel. This is 36% higher than those in their 50s (13%), and it can be interpreted that the use of motels is expanding around the 20s.
“It is interpreted as a trend due to the emergence of high-end motels, convenience of reservation, and thorough quarantine facilities,” said an official from here. It is also used as a place for relaxation.”

Motels provide interiors and additional services comparable to hotels, and are attracting more interest from young consumers in recent years. As accommodations that promise thorough quarantine in order to reduce the fear of infectious diseases are increasing, it has attracted attention as a small play area that replaces overseas travel. “Motels are transforming into accommodations that lead a new spatial culture and travel trend,” said an official here. “The 20s who are familiar with the mobile reservation platform are responding first.”
One out of two respondents in their 20s (51%) said they spent the money they saved last year for delaying overseas travel last year, and 41% said they spent it as living expenses. 37% of respondents in their 20s said they spent on grooming expenses such as shopping.
Their domestic travel expenses for two days and one night were averaged 265,800 won. The most expensive item was accommodation, which was 49% of the total cost. As for the type of travel they want to experience in the future, those in their twenties cited car park (42%) enjoyed in a car and camping and glamping (41%) enjoyed outdoors. Recently, as it has been difficult to visit famous tourist spots and the importance of hygiene has increased, it seems that camping, the representative theme of non-face-to-face travel, has emerged.
Overseas travel (53%) was the most preferred activity to enjoy when Corona 19 was silent due to vaccines, etc., followed by domestic travel (49%) and friends and club meetings (33%).
