Saki said at a briefing today that there is no question that President Biden sees North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missiles and other proliferation-related activities as a grave threat to international peace and security and an international non-proliferation regime.

Saki said the United States is still very interested in deterring North Korea.

The Biden administration said it would adopt a new strategy to keep Americans and allies safe.

Saki said the approach begins with a thorough policy review of the current situation in North Korea.

In particular, he explained that he will closely consult with South Korea, Japan and other allies on the ongoing pressure on North Korea and the possibility of diplomacy in the future.

Saki has repeatedly emphasized that the United States will work closely with regional partners to cooperate on deterrence and to determine its path as it has historically been.
