Lee Sang-ho, who was handed over to trial on charges of receiving illegal political funds from former Star Mobility Chairman Kim Bong-hyun, a key figure in the’Lime Incident’, was sentenced to imprisonment at the first trial, the former head of the Democratic Party’s Busan Saha-eul. As the court judges that a key member of the past pro-no (pro-Roh Moo-hyun) was involved in a person related to the Lime incident, the need for investigation into the suspicion of the Lime lobby by former and current passport personnel is expected to increase.

On the 22nd, the 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Law (Deputy Judge Shin Hyeok-jae) sentenced Lee, who was charged with violating the Political Fund Act, to two years in prison and 30 million won in additional fines.

The judiciary admitted both charges of violating the Political Fund Act and denying the former Chairman Lee. The judge said, “At the time of the incident, the defendant was engaged in political activities as a regional chairman of the Democratic Party’s Saha-eul, Busan,” and said, “The 30 million won received from Kim Bong-hyun while acting as a political party officer should be viewed as a political activity fund, regardless of the name.”

“The person who asked for money from Kim Bong-hyun is the defendant, not his younger brother who suffered a loss from stock investment,” he said. “It can be said that Kim Bong-hyun’s purchase of socks from his younger brother’s company also took advantage of property in return for an unjust solicitation.” Explained.

The judge refused to accept the claim of “lending money”

Former Chairman Lee was handed over to trial on charges of receiving 56 million won through his brother’s account in exchange for investing in the acquisition of Kim’s asset management company by the union he served as a standing auditor. Former Chairman Kim’s side is to purchase 18 million won worth of socks sold by his younger brother’s company, and he is also charged with receiving 30 million won.

Earlier, the prosecution requested a three-year imprisonment and 30 million won in additional fines, claiming that the money received by former Chairman Lee was equivalent to illegal political funds.

In a previous prosecution investigation, former chairman Kim stated that he handed over the money at the request of former chairman Lee that he needed campaign funds. However, he changed the word that he had lent money to the court as a witness to the loss of stock. Lee’s former chairman side also claimed innocence, saying, “Kim Bong-hyun said that he lent money because of a human relationship.”

However, the court did not accept their claim. The judge said, “Even though Lee, a well-known politician, was familiar with the Political Fund Act, he violated it.”

Chairman Lee, who started the consignment manufacturing business of socks in his 30s with a high school diploma, established a relationship with the current passport in April 2001 through the’Gathering of People Who Love Roh Moo-hyun’ (No Samo).

Lee’s nickname’Mickey Crew’ is the same as his Nosamo site ID. As the head of the No-Samo Busan Branch and the No-Samo National Competition, he was evaluated as having raised the Internet-based labor force as a’social phenomenon’. His idea is a yellow handkerchief, represented by Nosamo.

Former Chairman Lee entered the political world in earnest after the Roh Moo-hyun administration was inaugurated. In early 2004, in the phase of impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun, he led a rally against impeachment. In 2005, he entrusted the socks business to his younger siblings and led the’People’s Participation Solidarity’, a group that made political powers of lawmaker Chung Cheong-rae and labor and management.

From 2016, after experiencing a disparity within the politics, he made a “friendship” move. In the 20th general election, he was in charge of planning the elections for the candidates of the Democratic Party in Busan and Gyeongnam (PK), leading the victory. He said in a media interview in January last year, “When the results of the general election came out, President Moon Jae-in (former representative at the time) praised him over the phone as’Mr. Mickey, perfect.'”

In July 2018, he became the head of the Democratic Party’s Busan City Party Saha-eul, and was nominated by Saha-eul, Busan in the 21st general election, but was defeated by Cho Kyung-tae, a member of the Future Integration Party. Then, in July of last year, he was arrested on charges such as receiving illegal political funds and taking over.

From December 2017 to March 2019, after the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration, former Chairman Lee served as a standing auditor for the Specialized Construction Mutual Aid Association. The parachute controversy broke out as he gained an annual salary of about 300 million won, and incidents that resulted in his arrest occurred during this period.
