[사회]’Kim Hak’s ban on departure’ for the second day of seizure and search…

[앵커]

For the second day, the prosecution, investigating the suspicion of the illegal departure ban of Kim Hak-ei, the former vice minister of the Ministry of Justice, has been seizing and searching the Ministry of Justice.

In the midst of this, the controversy is intensifying as additional disclosures of Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Lee Seong-yoon, who was then head of the anti-corruption force at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, interfered with the investigation.

From this morning, the Suwon Prosecutors’ Office resumed seizure and search for two locations: the Ministry of Justice and the Incheon Airport Immigration and Foreigners Administration.

An official at the prosecution said that it took more time than expected for the reproduction of computer data, and there were many variables, so it was being seized and searched for the second day, and it was difficult to predict the end time.

Yesterday, Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and Prosecutor Gyu-won Lee, who wrote a request for banning Kim Hak’s departure from Japan, confiscated and searched the offices and homes of the Fair Trade Commission where he was dispatched.

It is known that the secured data also included key evidence, such as the mobile phone of the person concerned.

The prosecution will analyze the confiscated material to see if there has been any illegal activity in the process of the emergency ban on departure from former Vice Minister Kim.

In this regard, Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae expressed strong regret for the prosecution’s seizure and search of the Ministry of Justice.

Minister Chu pointed out for the public interest of confiscating and searching the Ministry of Justice for a real crime suspect who was stranded in an emergency departure ban at the airport by posting a post on his SNS.

At the same time, the prosecutors criticized that they had missed the statute of limitations by dismissing former Vice Minister Kim twice in an investigation that dismissed the victim by ignoring conclusive evidence such as’Kim Hak’s video’.

While the prosecution’s forced investigation began in earnest, the public interest informant who first reported the allegations also raised suspicion of obstructing the investigation?

[기자]

Yes. The public interest reporter who reported the related suspicion recently filed an additional public interest report to the National Rights Commission.

In the 14-page public interest report obtained by YTN, the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office in 2019 investigated the suspicion of an illegal departure from former Vice Minister Kim.

In the report, the public interest reporter claimed that it was confirmed that at the time, the Ministry of Justice staff’s unauthorized inquiries about the immigration prohibition, an emergency immigration request from a dispatched prosecutor without investigation rights, and improper immigration prohibition measures were confirmed.

In particular, during the investigation, the Prosecutors’ Office of the Ministry of Justice and the Anti-Corruption and Powers of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office intervened through various channels and contacted them to stop further investigations, revealing that the investigation was stopped.

In addition, he claimed that the report on the results of the investigation at the time contained the content that’there was no further investigation plan as the document was prepared in an urgent situation at night, and a follow-up report was made to the Prosecutor’s Office.’

However, as the public interest reporter did not know the specific situation inside the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office at the time, he said that he would report an additional report of one Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Lee Seong-yoon, who was in charge of the Anti-Corruption and Power Department, for obstructing the exercise of ex officio abuse rights.

The prosecution, which started the full-scale investigation through all-round seizure and search, is expected to continue investigating the facts of the report and further disclosure of the public interest reporter.
