Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won is revealing the reasons for running for the Seoul Mayor by-election at the Hankyoreh studio in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 21st. By Lee Jung-ah, staff reporter [email protected]
How short questions are sharper. On the 21st, I asked former lawmaker Na Gyeong-won, a member of the People’s Power, whom I met at the studio. Do you not want to go to the presidential election as a stepping stone for the mayor of Seoul? To answer my curiosity, I aggressively asked short-answer questions.
―In the press, the last name of the opposition Big 3 candidates (Na Kyung-won, Oh Se-hoon, Ahn Chul-soo) is called’An-O-Na’ and’An-na-O’. What do you like?
“Of course it is’I-O-An’. Even if you look at the size of the party, the National Assembly is also a player. I am from the 4th Congressman. Even in alphabetical order,’I’ comes first. Please call it like that in the future.”
―If the mayor of Seoul fails, will he run for the next presidential election? What if you answer with OX?
“X”
―If you are elected mayor of Seoul, will you run for president after completing your term of office for about a year?
“X, it’s not polite to say that the presidential election will go out a year later. We have to do a lot of work and focus on our one-year commitment because it is a one-year market, but we have to focus on a five-year future vision.”
―If the Seoul mayor is re-elected successfully, will he run for the next presidential election?
“With my heart now, X”
―Possibility to be different if it is a’heart now’?
“I’ve been suffering while representing the hospital, so I don’t want to hold a bigger election. Too many frame attacks. He was accused of 13 and attacked a lot (laughs). In fact, I suffered so much, and I think that was one of the reasons for the fall of the general election. Even though he was so cruel last year, the prosecutors were all charged with nothing. So I have no intention of doing any presidential election.”
―How long have you lived in Seoul?
“I was born in Dongjak, Seoul and continued to live in Seoul, and I continued to live only in Seoul except for four years when I was a judge at the Busan District Court. I was born and raised in Seoul, and I was a member of the Seoul district, except for the 17th proportional representative in political activities, so I thought I would challenge the mayor of Seoul. In the 19th by-election, he was originally invited to run in Suwon. At the time, Congressman Hak-gyu Sohn from the Democratic Party came out of Suwon, and our party even threatened to give a nomination if I did not leave Suwon. The reason I refused at that time was that I came to the mayor of Seoul in 2011, and I decided to do it in Seoul in the future.”
―What neighborhood did you live in Seoul?
“I was born in Noryangjin-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and lived mainly in Yongsan and Mapo. I also lived in Seochon for a year, and when I was a member of the Jung-gu National Assembly, I lived in Jung-gu.”
―What are the neighborhoods and spaces in Seoul that you love?
“It’s a hard question. I really like the Han River. Han River and Namsan. I think it’s nice to have a mountain and a river in Seoul.”
―What if I only reverse one of the full-time market policies?
“It is urban regeneration. I recently went to Changsin-dong and Seogye-dong, and I am really worried about safety. There are dozens of furniture in a narrow alley where people cannot communicate. It is completely defenseless against fire. In addition, since the septic tank is not connected, the waste is actually being thrown right into the sewer pipe. Shouldn’t I fix it? Mural painting is the most representative urban regeneration project, and it has already become a dreadlock because the paint has been peeled off. Eventually, the urban regeneration project, which is not what citizens want, should be abolished.”
―Candidates to meet, single line evaluation?
“Oh Se-hoon, former Mayor of Seoul: Candidate Chul-soo Ahn, who is strong in a soft image: It was nice to see him doing medical service in relation to the coronavirus recently. Former Minister Park Young-seon: Always enthusiastic?”
―You evaluated it warmly, but what is your comparative advantage?
“Then I think I’m so disgusted, so I’ll only talk about good things (laughs).” Reporter Jang Na-rae [email protected] ▶In addition to the’short tour’ for former lawmaker Na Gyeong-won, click here to see the contents of the interview (Na Gyeong-won “The unification rule is “I’m the one who won the competition…”)!
