Toegye Lee Hwang (1501-1570)’s 450th anniversary of the Buddha’s Heavenly Witness (不遷位) was held digitally. Bulcheonwi refers to a god who has been granted merit by the country to be enshrined in the shrine forever.

Dosan Seowon Seonbi Culture Training Center said on the 21st, “On January 20th, on December 8th by the lunar calendar, a Buddhist memorial service was held at Toegye Jongtaek, a teacher of Chosun Seongrihak. In order to meet the social distancing, it was conducted in a digital relay method.” Hundreds of people participate in the Toegye teacher’s rite every year, including Yurim, scholars, and executives of Dosan Seowon Seonbi Culture Training Center, as well as Toegye Munjung.

On this day, the ritual was held with only a few canons participating. Toegye Jong-taek used the video program’Zoom (Z00M)’ to broadcast the ritual of Bucheonwi online. Yurim, who did not directly participate in the rite, participated in real-time with a laptop video at home.

When Hsinchu was seen on the laptop screen, he wore traditional clothes and bowed. The Dosan Seowon Seonbi Cultural Center said, “You need to do it according to the reality that Toegye was emphasized, but not far away from the old ones.” In other words, respect the basics of traditional manners, but have an example appropriate for the time. It can be said that we can share the teaching of all our devotion and the ark.”
