E-Mart 24 announced on the 20th that a set of 10 Don (37.5 g) gold bars of 2.85 million won, prepared as a gift set for the Lunar New Year, was sold out for two consecutive days.
On the 18th, these 20 gold bar sets were sold out 3 hours after the start of pre-order. E-Mart 24 prepared 50 more on the 19th, but all quantities were exhausted by 5 pm.
An official from E-Mart 24 said, “In terms of the amount, it is worth 200 million won in total,” and “We decided to supply an additional 80 in consultation with the Korea Gold Exchange, and we plan to consider additional sales in the future.”
A total of 150 products were sold, including 1 gold bar and 1 stone ring, prepared in limited quantities of 400 and 200, respectively.
E-Mart 24 analyzed that gold bars, which belong to ultra-high prices among convenience store products, became popular because gold was recognized as a premium gift worth investment.
Baek Ji-ho, Managing Director of E-Mart 24’s Product Planning (MD), said, “It is a gift to parents and acquaintances who do not visit often due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), or to purchase for their own possession.”
E-Mart 24 will sell three gold gift sets in limited quantities, including 10 and 1 money for the’Solid Gold Bar’ and 1 money for the’Baby Angel Stone Ring’ until the 24th. If you visit the E-Mart 24 store and place an order, you can receive it by courier at the post office.
