Following the previous lawsuit for 30 billion won for product supply and a claim for damages of 7.1 billion won, it continued to win three consecutive victories in an appeals trial of 11.9 billion won for damages related to land in Icheon City.
The chicken franchise bhc announced on the 20th that it had won the appeal of the’Icheon City Land Damage Claim’ filed by BBQ. In the past, bhc signed a lease and rental contract with a BBQ related to the land in Mok-ri, Majang-myeon, Icheon-si, which expired on December 31, 2015.
BBQ claimed that the BBQ theme park construction project was delayed due to bhc’s failure to fulfill the obligation to deliver the land and the duty to remove the building, and filed a lawsuit for damages worth about KRW 11.9 billion in 2018, but lost in June last year. BBQ objected to this, but immediately filed an appeal but lost.
The 6th Division of Civil Affairs of the Seoul High Court dismissed all of the BBQ appeals on the grounds of the delay in the implementation of the BBQ theme park project and the lack of causal relationship between the default of the bhc debt.
An official from bhc said, “Currently, BBQ is continuously carrying out unreasonable lawsuits with vain claims. This is seen as an act of deceived consumers by intentionally scratching the bhc brand, and the successive victory of bhc I think it is a result of reflecting the truth.
Meanwhile, BBQ Chairman Yoon Hong-geun has owned land (1-13 Mok-ri, 1-16 Mok-ri) and buildings in Majang-myeon, Icheon-si since October 2002, and has installed and operated research centers, factories, and educational facilities. bhc acquired ownership of the Mok-ri 1-13 land and building in 2011, and sold the land to BBQ in 2013 through the process of separating bhc from BBQ. Subsequently, bhc signed a lease contract for the Mok-ri 1-13 land with BBQ to own the buildings on the Mok-ri 1-13 and Mok-ri 1-16 lands, and the use loan contract for the Mok-ri 1-16 land with Chairman Yoon.
