It was confirmed that Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, was negative in the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) test received after he was imprisoned.
According to the correctional authorities on the 19th, the Ministry of Justice said that the previous day, although the result of the rapid antigen test for Corona 19 was negative, it was quarantined according to the response guidelines. However, according to the correctional facility’s guidelines for responding to Corona 19, Vice-Chairman Lee will undergo a secondary gene amplification (PCR) test after quarantine in a single room for four weeks.
The Seoul Detention Center has strengthened its containment guidelines and extended the period of containment to 4 weeks instead of 3 weeks. Usually, general prisoners stay in a place where several people live after quarantine. However, Vice-Chairman Lee is known to remain in a living room even if the quarantine is lifted after being judged to be pitched in a PCR test.
Vice-Chairman Lee was convicted of bribery and other charges at a repatriation trial for the abandonment of a court related to Gukjeong Nongdan the day before, and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and arrested in court.
Meanwhile, at the eastern detention center in Seoul, a prisoner who was released from prison was later confirmed as Corona 19.
The prisoner was released from Dongbu Detention Center on the 31st of last month and was confirmed the day before. The Ministry of Justice said that the number of corona19 confirmed cases in correctional facilities nationwide as of 8 am on the day was 1258, an increase of one from the previous day. Among them, 1036 prisoners remained in the correctional facility, 173 prisoners were released from the prison, and 49 prisoners were in total.
