Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong is sentenced to revoke the case of Gukjeong Nongdan.

In this trial for destruction and repatriation, where the Samsung compliance system has emerged as a variable, we are interested in whether Vice-Chairman Lee will be imprisoned again in detention center or probation.

It is decided today (18th) whether Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who was prosecuted in the case of Gukjeong Nongdan, will be jailed again.

On the afternoon of the 18th, the Seoul High Court is holding a hearing on the detention and return of Vice Chairman Lee, who is charged with bribery.

At the previous decision hearing, the special prosecutor asked the court to sentence Lee to nine years in prison.

They pointed out that even though they actively bribe to succeed in management, they are trying to conceal the truth with false statements.

In response, Vice-Chairman Lee claimed to have offered bribes through the coercion of former President Park Geun-hye.

Vice-Chairman Lee’s prosecution in the case of Gukjeong Nongdan goes back to February 2017.

The charges were applied to former President Park Geun-hye and Choi Seo-won, who was a “scientific leader,” asking for help in the succession of the Samsung Group’s management rights, as well as bribes.

Vice-Chairman Lee, who was handed over to the trial under arrest at the time, was sentenced to five years in prison at the first trial, and was released only after being sentenced to four years probation after two years and six months of imprisonment due to lower guilty charges at the second trial.

However, the Supreme Court alliance returned the case to the High Court, saying that’the price of three horses’ should be viewed as an additional bribe.

According to the purpose of repatriation for destruction, the amount of bribery given by Vice-Chairman Lee will increase to 8.6 billion won, and if a charge of embezzling the money is applied, the person will be sentenced to life in prison or five years or more.

For this reason, a fierce legal dispute between special prosecutors and attorneys arose over the sentencing, including the effectiveness of the Samsung Compliance Committee established during the trial.

In response to the court’s intention to reflect the activities of the Compliance Committee in sentencing, the trial was stopped for nine months as a result of the special prosecutor’s opposition.

Will it be reincarcerated or will be sentenced to probation?

There was a lot of talk and a lot of masks throughout the trial, so no matter what the outcome is, it seems that the wave will be insignificant.
