The new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) temporary screening laboratory, which the quarantine authorities are conducting in the metropolitan area, will be extended until the 14th of the following month, a special quarantine period for the Lunar New Year holidays.
On the 16th, Sook-young Lim, head of the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters, said at a regular briefing for Corona 19, “Based on the results of the temporary screening inspection center operation evaluation, we decided to extend 130 inspection stations in the metropolitan area until February 14, the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday.” .
Since December 14 last year, temporary screening and inspection stations have been installed and operated in 144 places in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon with large floating populations. Initially, the target was 150, but after the extension of the distance phase on the 4th, it was adjusted to 144 in consideration of the site conditions.
In addition, nine metropolitan metropolitan cities and provinces in the non-metropolitan area are voluntarily operating 59 temporary screening inspection stations (as of 16 days).
The temporary screening laboratory examined about 1.099,000 samples over the past month and found 3231 confirmed cases (positive rate 0.3%) early.
The quarantine authorities found that the results of the operation of the temporary screening test center △ improved the convenience and accessibility of the test, △ prevented the spread of the local community through expansion of the test volume and early detection of confirmed cases, and △ spread of the temporary screening test to the non-metropolitan area.
It is evaluated that it has enhanced access to the Corona 19 test and increased the degree of participation in the test as it is possible to check the phone number at a convenient location such as a station or a plaza, regardless of the address or the presence of symptoms.
Over the past month, the number of metropolitan areas increased to 1,1722,000 cases, an increase of 4.7 times from the previous month (368,000 cases), and the temporary screening and inspection stations accounted for 64% of the metropolitan area’s inspection volume. Looking at the confirmed patients in the metropolitan area, 11% of 27,911 people in the last month were found at the temporary screening test.
However, if it is confirmed by an anonymous test, there is a delay in the process of confirming the confirmed person, and therefore, the subject with epidemiological relations is in need of improvement, such as being guided to a screening clinic at a public health center.
Director Lim Sook-young said, “49% of the confirmed cases at the temporary screening laboratory have an epidemiological relationship, and 69% of those with bequests accounted for.” said.
Manager Lim said, “We plan to operate 52 locations in Seoul, 70 locations in Gyeonggi, and 8 in Incheon, taking into account the epidemic situation, accessibility, and inspection results of each local government.”
He said, “We plan to improve the operating system to effectively classify and manage subjects who need real name confirmation, such as contacts of the confirmed person, and apply a mobile questionnaire system that can utilize both anonymous and real name tests.”
