Gyeonggi-do has specified a plan to pay the second basic disaster income to all citizens. The payment amount is expected to be paid 100,000 won per resident in the same manner as in the first period.
An official in Gyeonggi Province explained on the 16th, “We agreed to provide the second basic disaster income by accepting the proposal of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.” “The specific details will be announced by Governor Lee Jae-myeong on the 18th.” This is in accordance with the official proposal of the second basic disaster income of the Gyeonggi Province Council on the 11th.
According to the review proposal previously reported to the provincial provincial council, it is expected that 100,000 won per resident will be paid as in the first disaster basic income paid in April last year. As for the payment method, credit card point payments are being reviewed along with local currency cards.
The second payment is expected to include foreigners (registered foreigners and 580,000 residents) who were excluded from the first payment.
The province is discussing ways to utilize the funds deposits of KRW 1.28 trillion and the transfer of funds of KRW 83 billion without issuing local bonds.
The financial resources of about 1.4 trillion won (including incidental expenses) are planned to be covered only by funds managed by Gyeonggi Province such as the Regional Development Fund and the Integrated Financial Stabilization Fund without issuing local bonds.
The payment timing is being reviewed in early February, before the Lunar New Year holiday, taking into account the quarantine situation and the effect of boosting consumption, but may be adjusted according to the trend of confirmed cases, coordination of the party government, and the resolution schedule of the city council.
Until now, Governor Lee Jae-myeong has insisted on the necessity of universal distribution of disaster assistance and has demanded additional assistance from the entire population.
On the 5th, a letter was sent to the ruling and opposition lawmakers and the Minister of Strategy and Finance, saying, “We need a bold expansion fiscal policy to overcome the structural low growth and the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) crisis, alleviate polarization, and revitalize the economy.” Insisted on the payment of disaster assistance.
