Controversy over remarks in video conference with Army General Nam Young-shin and chief executives
Chief executives petition the National Human Rights Commission for “remarks in violation of human rights”
“The long-term chief executive officer and officer should be respectful to each other”

Some of the chief executive officers of the army have petitioned Army Chief of Staff Nam Young-shin to the National Human Rights Commission.
It is alleged that the moral rights were violated by the President Nam during the video conference last year.
Mr. Nam explained that the truth was distorted.

On December 21, last year, a videoconference was held between Army Chief of Staff Nam Young-shin and the chief executive officers, who are the top vice-ministers of the army battalion level or higher.
At the end of the year, the meeting was planned to encourage troops, and controversy followed.
On December 24, three days after the meeting, several chief executives filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea about Mr. Nam’s remarks.
Chief executive officers are known to have claimed that their personal rights were violated by saying in their petitions that the officer Nam Young-shin said that the officer “you can talk to the NCO.”
The National Human Rights Commission also stated that it is true that it has filed a complaint and that it is the first time that this kind of complaint has been filed against the Chief of Staff of the Army.
This complaint can be interpreted as being from the position that the senior officers with the longest service period among the vice officers are generally respectful of each other even if the officers are higher in rank.
Army General Nam Young-shin emphasized mutual respect between the officer and the NCO, and said that young officers should be grateful for using honorific words to the NCO.
Earlier in the Ministry of National Defense, there was a report that a captain in the ranks called a boss without a ‘Nim’ to the vice-committee and then a controversy over the lower climax was raised, and the Ministry of Defense educated beginner officers.
