A woman in her 30s who killed her 3-year-old daughter, who lives with her, 10 years in prison

A woman in her 30s who killed her 3-year-old daughter by beating her three-year-old daughter was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the midst of the 16-month-old Jung In-i incident, who died after abuse of her adoptive parents.

On the 15th, the 13th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court (President Judge Eun-seol Ko) held a sentence of 10 years in prison for Mr. A (35, female), who was accused of mortality of child abuse under the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.

The court also ordered Mr. A to complete a 120-hour child abuse treatment program and restricted him from working in child-related institutions for 10 years.

The judge explained, “The defendant beat a young victim, a 3-year-old who called himself’mother’, to death,” and said, “The victim fell into a state of brain death and ended his short life miserably.”

The judge said, “The victim’s father complained of extreme mental suffering and filed a petition stating that he wants severe punishment.” . Earlier, at a decision trial in November last year, the prosecution asked Mr. A to be imprisoned for 20 years, saying, “The method of crime is cruel, such as hitting a young victim with a blunt weapon.”

On January 28, 2019, Mr. A was charged with slapping the head of his daughter B (3), the daughter of his cohabitation in Gwangju City, Gyeonggi-do several times with a blunt to die.

He also pushed Ms. B’s chest hard to hit the floor or repeatedly beat her with his hand. After a broken skull, Ms. B fell into a brain-dead state due to subdural hemorrhage, and died about a month later.

In the prosecution’s investigation, Mr. A denied the charges, saying, “The child fell alone and bumped his head.”
