President Moon Jae-in will hold a New Year’s press conference at the Blue House Chunchu Hall starting at 10 am on the 18th and explain the direction of state administration for the fifth year in power. This is the first on-offline presidential press conference ever
Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok said, “The 2021 President Moon Jae-in’s New Year’s press conference will be held in a new way, called an on-offline video-connected press conference at 10 am on the 18th,” through a briefing on the 1st floor of the Chunchu Hall on the afternoon of the 15th.
In the press conference, which is being prepared in consideration of social distancing due to Corona 19, only 20 reporters in and out of the country will be seated at the Chunchu Hall site, and 100 will participate in a non-face-to-face online video connection method.
In addition to a total of 120 reporters, an online’chat inquiry’ will also be conducted for all reporters entering the Blue House who could not participate in the site and online video on the day to receive questions in real time. This is the first time I try.
President Moon’s press conference will be held in the fields of quarantine/social, political/economic, and diplomatic and security.
In particular, this press conference draws attention as it is expected that a number of sensitive pending questions such as the issue of the former president’s amnesty and the disciplinary issue of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol that were not included in the New Year’s address announced by President Moon on the 11th will come out. In addition, questions are expected to focus on solutions to inter-Korean relations and plans for additional real estate countermeasures, which are continuing in a crisis phase.
On the other hand, this New Year’s press conference is the fourth time following 2018, 2019, and 2020, and will be held more than a year after the New Year’s press conference on January 14 last year. For the press conference held in a new way, the Blue House built a dedicated set in the Spring Hall through a week-long construction.
