[아이뉴스24 장유미 기자] “Now, Samsung will no longer say that there is no union management. We will strictly observe the labor-management relations laws and guarantee three labor rights.”

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong officially announced the abolition of non-union management in May last year through the Public Affairs Division. This is the first time in Samsung Electronics’ 52-year history, about a year after the Samsung Display Labor Union, a member of the National Federation of Metals Labor Unions, was launched in February.

Samsung Display’s labor and management held a’collective agreement signing ceremony’ at the Asan 1 Campus on the 14th at 3 pm on the 14th, with labor-management bargaining members such as Vice President Kim Bum-dong and labor union chairpersons Kim Jeong-ran and Lee Chang-wan attended. This is the first among electronic affiliates such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Samsung SDS.

Earlier, Samsung Display’s labor union was launched in February of last year, and in May of the same year, Vice Chairman Lee declared the “abolition of non-union management” through an apology to the public. The labor and management agreed on a tentative agreement on 109 items on December 22 through a total of nine representative negotiations and main negotiations over the past seven months after the first round of negotiations was held on May 26 last year.

In the industry, starting with Samsung Display, it is expected that such changes in the labor-management air current will expand across other major subsidiaries of Samsung. Currently, among the major subsidiaries of Samsung, Samsung Electronics Service, Samsung Engineering, and S1 have unions under the KCTU, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.

Kim Beom-dong, head of Samsung Display’s HR team, who attended the collective agreement signing ceremony, said, “We achieved a smooth labor-management agreement based on communication and trust despite difficult internal and external conditions.” I will go.”
