National core technology is a technology that is likely to have a significant adverse impact on national security and national economy development if it is leaked abroad.Institutions holding and managing the designated and notified national core technology protect the national core technology. Measures must be taken, and if a foreigner intends to export core state technology or acquire or merge a company with state core technology, a government permit must be obtained.
The government has designated 71 technologies in 12 fields, including semiconductors, display electronics, automobiles, shipbuilding, biotechnology, and information and communication, as national core technologies through this amendment.
Looking at the newly designated and changed national core technology, first of all, the shipbuilding sector was subdivided into the design and manufacturing technology of liquefied gas cargo holds and fuel tanks from the current LNG carrier cargo tank manufacturing technology, and shipbuilding technology for ships over 3,000 tons and onshore. Has been expanded to include ships and marine structures of 3,000 tons or more, and ships and marine structures on land.

The Ministry of Industry enacted the Industrial Technology Protection Guidelines, presented detailed implementation guidelines for each detail of the national core technology protection measures, and allowed to impose a fine of 10 million won or less if it judged that the detailed implementation guidelines were rejected, obstructed or avoided.
