During the Park Geun-hye administration, the first trial of a farewell trial between former president Kim Ki-chun, former presidential secretary chief Kim Ki-chun, and former Blue House chief political officer Cho Yoon-seon, was initiated in a year.

The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 2 (Deputy Judge Ham Sang-hoon, Kim Min-ki, Ha Tae-han) held the first trial against former chief Kim and former chief Cho, who were charged with obstructing the exercise of rights of ex officio abuse.

They are charged with instructing the government to write a document stating the names of critical artists and organizations and the reasons for exclusion of support, and are being charged with excluding them from receiving government subsidies.

Kim Jeon was convicted of exclusion of support in the first trial and was convicted of three years in prison, and in the second trial, he was sentenced to four years in prison after being charged with forcing a first-class public official to resign.

Former Chief Cho was convicted only of perjury in the first trial, and was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted of one year in prison, two years probation, and partly charged with abuse of authority in the second trial.

In January of last year, the Supreme Court returned the case to the Seoul High Court due to misunderstanding of the law and lack of hearing regarding abuse of authority.

The first trial on that day ended in 10 minutes after reviewing additional witnesses and ways of expressing opinions. The second trial will take place on March 9.
