Citizens gathered from early in the morning expressed their anger in front of the Seoul Southern District Law on the 13th, when the first trial was held against a adoptive parent who was accused of abusing and killing a 16-month-old adoptee Jung In-yang.
About 50 members of the Korea Child Abuse Prevention Association gathered in front of the Southern District Law from 7 am on the same day, holding pickets with the words “death penalty” in red.
Citizens referred to Jung In-yang’s adoptive parents as “killers,” and raised their voices that the crime of murder should be applied to them.
At 9:20 am, when the convoy with her mother-in-law entered the courthouse, the members shouted the real names of Jung In-yi’s mother-in-law and her adoptive father Ahn-mo, and shouted, “The murderer must be executed.”
In the process, members who were overwhelmed by emotions also stood out.
In case of an emergency, more than 50 police troops were dispatched to protect the site, and as it is a place where a large number of people in charge of Yangcheon-gu office gather, they checked whether to comply with the quarantine regulations.

The 13th Criminal Division of the Southern District Court (Director Judge Shin Hyeok-jae) will hold the first trial of the mother-in-law of Yang, who was convicted of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Penalty of Child Abuse Crimes (Child Abuse Mortality). The adoptive father, who was convicted of violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse), is also subject to trial.
The prosecution is scheduled to disclose whether Jang’s complaint has been changed in court on the same day. The case investigation team and the command department decided the charges to apply to Jang after a long discussion based on the results of the reappraisal of forensic scientists the previous day.
The prosecution is expected to commit murder to Jang. It is also considering a plan to make the murder charge as a’peripheral prosecution’ and a child abuse mortality charge as a’preliminary prosecution’.
Jang’s side admitted some of the charges such as abuse and neglect, but denied the charges of murder. Earlier, Jang stated that he was killed by accidentally dropping Jung-in while carrying Yang in the prosecution investigation.
The court set up two relay courts in consideration of the social interest that was focused on the trial that day. In the lottery for 51 people, 813 people entered the trial, recording a competition rate of 15.9.
