[IT in CES] Sony “releases a movie utilizing PS5 IP”

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced its plan to release media entertainment contents using PlayStation 5 at CES 2021, which was held online. In addition, a large number of new works were released.

SIE CEO Jim Ryan said this while explaining the background of PS5 development through video at the CES 2021 digital press event on the 12th. “We have achieved unprecedented success by releasing PS5,” he said. “We are also preparing media entertainment using PS’s representative IP like’Uncharted’, which continuously releases games and turns them into movies.”

He introduced the new PS5 lineup at the end of the video. The game introduced at this event is ▲Hitman 3 (January 20th) ▲Kenna Bridge of Spirit(In March) ▲Li Tunnel(March 19) ▲ Little Devil Inside(June) ▲Solar ash(June) ▲Stray(October) ▲Ghost Wire Tokyo(October) ▲ Horizon Forbidden West(Within the year) ▲ Ratchet & Crank: Lift Apartment(Within the year) Etc.

Among them, Little Devil Inside is a work developed by Korean game company Neostream and presented as a PS5 exclusive third-party game. The development period has exceeded 5 years. The game also raised about $300,000 (360 million won) from Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter.

Among the games introduced by SIE, Project Atia and Fragmata are expected to be released in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Meanwhile, there are some games that have announced the news of past development, but have not been mentioned at this event. A representative example is God of War Ragnarok developed by Santa Monica Studio. The game first announced its development in September 2020. It attracted attention as a sequel to the’God of War’ released in 2018. The previous game, God of War, was 2018’s Most Game of the Year.(GOTY)Won. Director Corey Ballock, who oversaw the development of the previous game, is also leading the development of this game. From Software’s Elden Ring also did not appear in this announcement.
