There are a number of confirmed cases in correctional facilities, including group infections of female prisoners at the eastern detention center in Seoul.

Two employees at Sangju Prison in Gyeongbuk were also newly tested positive, and an epidemiological investigation is underway to see if there is any connection to the Sangju BTJ Nations Center, where the recent outbreak is spreading.

The eastern detention center in Seoul, where one female prisoner was first confirmed by the 7th total inspection.

In the 8th total examination, a bunch of female prisoners who had close contact with the confirmed patient were tested positive for additional tests.

There are 3 people in the same room, 1 person in the next room, and 1 person in charge of serving food.

It is believed to have been infected by a confirmed person at the 7th examination.

The day after the first confirmation of female prisoners, more than 250 female prisoners who were urgently transferred to Daegu prison were all tested negative.

At that time, close contacts and patients with underlying diseases were excluded from the transfer, but considering the incubation period and contact with additional confirmed patients, it is an early situation.

In the eighth full-scale examination at the Dongbu Detention Center, additional male prisoners and prisoners were confirmed, as well as the fact that about 10 people transferred to Yeongwol prison were infected.

Separately, two employees at Sangju Prison in Gyeongbuk were first confirmed.

It is about 25km away from the BTJ World Center, where group infection is spreading recently.

Whether they are related to the Centers of the Nations or the Protestant missions organization’Intercorp’ has yet to be confirmed.

The quarantine authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations to see if the employees are related to these organizations.

The outbreak of mass infection in the eastern detention center in Seoul shows no signs of ending for more than a month.

There are also sporadic cases of confirmed cases of other correctional facilities, and it is expected that it will take a considerable amount of time for the situation to be completely completed.
