(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Won-hee = The Korea Securities Depository announced on the 12th that the issuance of short-term bonds last year was 1,31 trillion won, down 8.3% from the previous year (1,124 trillion won).
Short-term bonds are bonds issued by a company with certain requirements, such as issuance of less than 1 year and issuance of 100 million won or more.
This is the first time since the introduction of the short-term bond-related system in 2013 that the annual issuance amount has decreased from the previous year. The average daily issuance amount also decreased by 500 billion won from the previous year to 4.1 trillion won.
This seems to be the result of a decrease in the issuance of ultra-short products within 7 days as the short-term financial market became unstable due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the depository explained.
Ultra-short articles were issued with 636 trillion won, down 12.6% from the previous year (728.66 trillion won).
By type, general short-term bonds amounted to 83.6 trillion won, down 11.4% from the previous year (938 trillion won). The amount of securitized short-term bonds issued by special purpose companies (SPC) and project financing (PF) increased 7.4% from the previous year (186 trillion won) to 200 trillion won.

By maturity, issuance within 3 months amounted to KRW 1,28 trillion, accounting for 99.7% of the total issuance amount. This seems to be due to the exemption from submitting a stock report if issued within 3 months. However, it decreased by 8.3% from the previous year (1,121 trillion won).
By credit rating, A1 (947 trillion won), A2 (693 trillion won), A3 (12 trillion won), and B or less (2.8 trillion won) were the largest in the order. As in the previous year, the lower the credit rating, the more the issuance amount tended to decrease.
Looking at the issuance amount by industry, securities companies issued 577 trillion won, accounting for the largest share of 56%. However, it was an 11% decrease from the previous year (649.2 trillion won).
Next, securitization companies (200 trillion won), card and capital and other financial businesses (165 trillion won), general companies and public enterprises (86 trillion 900 billion won) were issued in order.
Short-term foreign currency denominated bonds were issued for $1,616.6 million (about KRW 1.7 trillion), an increase of 14.2% from the previous year ($1,415.5 million).
