India and 270 million Indonesia, with a population of 1.39 billion, will be vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the week.
According to the BBC and the like on the 9th (local time), the Indian government will begin vaccinating medical staff and health workers from the 16th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “By July, 300 million people will be vaccinated.” Vaccines that have been licensed for use by the Indian authorities so far include AstraZeneca and the’nose vaccine’ developed by an Indian company.
Earlier, Indonesia will also start vaccination on the 13th, Jakarta Post reported. President Joko Widodo will also be vaccinated on the first day. The Indonesian government is planning to spread the vaccination by supplying a total of 5.8 million doses this month and an additional 23 million doses by March.
It has already secured 3 million doses of Synovac, and additional vaccines from AstraZeneca, NovaVax and Pfizer will be provided. In the case of Synobac, which has not yet obtained permission for use, it is expected that the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) will approve emergency use before the vaccination date.
Earlier, the Ulema Council (MUI), the leading Islamic organization in Indonesia, declared that the Synovac vaccine was’halal’ (a product that Muslims can eat and use).
According to the international statistics website World Omometer, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in India as of that day was 10,45,1346, the second largest in the world after the United States, and the cumulative death toll was 151048, ranking third after the United States and Brazil. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Indonesia is 818386 and the cumulative death toll is 23,947, both of which are in the top 20 in the world.
