The power reserve ratio is 13.1% to 18.3%, securing a stable supply and demand environment
Fine dust emission decreased by 36% and 426 tons compared to the same period last year
[지앤이타임즈]Up to 17 coal power plants were shut down, but there was no disruption in power supply and demand.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced in December of last year that it had smoothly implemented the reduction of coal power generation to implement the seasonal control system for fine dust in winter in relation to the current supply and demand of electricity.
During this period, up to 17 coal power plants were shut down, and the maximum power generation output of up to 46 units was put into force below 80%.
As a result, the Ministry of Industry analyzed that it had substantially the same effect as shutting down 20 to 25 coal generators as a whole.
The reduction of coal power plants in December reduced fine dust emissions by about 36% compared to the same period last year by 426 tons.
In addition, compared to December 2018, before the enforcement of the seasonal management system, the emission of fine dust decreased by about 60% to about 1139 tons.
However, there was no disruption in power supply and demand.
During the month of December, the power reserve ratio recorded 18.3% in the fifth week and 13.1% in the second, which was the lowest.
In response, Lee Ho-hyun, the energy innovation policy officer of the Ministry of Industry, said, “We are maintaining a stable power supply and demand despite the recent record cold wave.”
