Samsung Electronics’ sales last year were 235 trillion won, an increase of 2.5% from the previous year.
Operating income increased by 29.5% to 3,595 trillion won.
Sales performance was similar, but profitability improved relatively.
In the fourth quarter, operating profit was 9 trillion won, up 25.7% year-on-year, and sales increased 1.87% to 61 trillion won.
Compared to the 3rd quarter of last year, when economic activity recovered due to the easing of social distancing, the’pant-up effect’ appeared, and compared to the third quarter of last year, it was evaluated that it was good.
In the case of semiconductors, the overall market conditions were good last year, but in the fourth quarter, operating profit fell from the third quarter due to a drop in memory semiconductor prices such as server DRAM and the plunge in the won-dollar exchange rate.
In the case of smartphones, shipments decreased when Apple released the iPhone 12 at the end of October last year, and the sales of home appliances such as TVs were strong, which helped improve earnings. .
There are many analyzes that this year’s performance will also improve.
The market is expected to surpass last year’s performance, mainly in semiconductors, with the advent of a semiconductor supercycle driven by rising DRAM prices.
In particular, with the recent surge in demand in the foundry sector, expectations for growth are higher than ever.
