The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a public quest to confirm the identity of the protesters who were invading the Capitol. It is known that at least 15 criminal charges apply to them.

According to the US CNN broadcast, the FBI issued a statement on the 7th (local time) and announced that it would receive photo or video tips to identify those who participated in the riots the day before.

“We are looking for information in Washington DC to help identify individuals who are actively inciting violence,” the FBI said.

“Please provide me with digital media depicting the riots and violence in the US Capitol building and surrounding area on January 6, 2021,” he added.

Earlier, Trump supporters broke into the Capitol the day before to interfere with the election of the Senate and House of Representatives. The incident killed four people and injured more than 50 police officers.

After the violent protest, 68 people were arrested. Police said there could be additional arrests as the investigation is underway.

The FBI is currently working on matching the faces of the protesters with the images in the social media posts filming the scene with CCTV in the Capitol Building and surrounding areas.

According to CNN, federal prosecutors are known to be planning to include notices posted on social media by protesters in the prosecution. The protesters are also accused of installing explosives near the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Judicial experts believe that at least 15 charges could apply to capitol intrusion leaders.

David Sklansky, professor of law at Stanford University, said, “Entering into force in Parliament △Assaulting federal officials such as police officers △ Threatening, interfering, and interfering with the legal obligations of federal officials △ Conspiracy to obstruct law enforcement can all be punished as felony crimes.” He explained.

The Washington DC police, which have been criticized for raising the situation by neglecting the large-scale protests that were announced since last month, have started to prevent recurrence. The police are planning to install a new fence around the Capitol to prevent Trump supporters from gathering on the day of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on the 20th.
