Online New Year’s Greetings
“If the National Assembly could speed up the bill”
On the 7th, Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry Park Yong-man said, “We have to look ahead five and ten years and think about economic choices.”
Chairman Park said at the New Year’s Meeting held online at the Namdaemun-ro Conference Hall in Seoul, “I am worried that we are falling behind to the level that only us can handle in the rapidly changing global industry.” He also emphasized, “I hope that a’stable and balanced exit strategy’ will be prepared so that the business conditions of companies do not deteriorate rapidly.”
Chairman Park said to the politicians, “The National Assembly also asks for a forward-looking effort to deal with the bill that can increase the industrial metabolism this year.” He also added, “It is possible to cope with the economic legislative processes so that they do not get buried in the political schedule only when the political and economic issues are clearly separated.” Chairman Park’s remarks are interpreted as taking into account the imminent situation to deal with the severe disaster corporate punishment law following the passage of the 3rd Regulation Act (Commercial Law, Fair Trade Law, Financial Group Supervision Act) at the end of last year. Regarding the prospect of this year’s economy, Chairman Park warned of optimism, saying, “There were special stimulus measures, and there is not a small possibility that aftereffects remain in the process of returning them to normal.”
It also presented an opinion on the Severe Disaster Penalty Act, which passed the National Assembly Legislation Review Subcommittee. He said, “Is it possible to solve the problem of industrial accidents with penalties?” He said, “I want you to adjust the speed by considering the capabilities of the economy and companies.”
In the aftermath of the spread of Corona 19, the New Year’s Meeting was held as a’non-face-to-face event’ in which only four people, including Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun, Chairman Park, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo, and Korean Trade Union Chairman Kim Dong-myeong, attended the field.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance said in his greeting, “We will achieve’Vnomics’ this year.” It contains the meaning of’V-shaped rebound’, which is more than victory over corona and economic recovery, and’vision’ that will lead the post-corona era. He added, “We will do our best to lead the way for the V-shaped rebound in our economy.” He added, “If companies are a stepping stone this year, the government will be a strong support.”
