Samsung Electronics”Galaxy S21′ has been confirmed to be 99,000 won in domestic shipment price.
It has been three years since the Galaxy S9 that Samsung Electronics’ basic smartphone price was set at less than KRW 1 million. The price is more than 200,000 won lower than the previous Galaxy S20 (1248,000 won).
The Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra also cost 1.199,000 won and 1.45 million won, respectively. It was lowered by more than 100,000 won from the Galaxy S20 Plus (1353,000 won) and the Galaxy S20 Ultra (1595,000 won). The Galaxy S21 Ultra 512GB large-capacity model will be released separately for 1.6 million won.
Samsung Electronics and the mobile communication company discussed the domestic shipment price of the Galaxy S21 series in this way. It will be released according to the official release schedule after detailed adjustments such as 100 won units.
Samsung Electronics decided to release a strategic smartphone more than one month ahead of the previous year, and lowered the price sharply than the previous one.
The intention is to increase sales by reducing consumer burden right away, and to contain the popularity of’iPhone 12′, Apple’s first 5th generation (5G) smartphone.
To this end, it is known that Samsung Electronics has allocated about 60% of the total production volume of the Galaxy S21 series to the basic type. This is a result of the judgment that the competitiveness of ultra-high-performance smartphones is not the same as before as the differentiation gradually dilutes due to the higher leveling of smartphone performance, and consumer sentiment against the continued increase in shipping prices is also significant.
In addition, as Huawei is expected to slow down this year due to continued US sanctions, it is a willingness to maximize reflected profits and securely dominate in the premium smartphone market.
An official from the mobile operator said on the 7th, “The fact that the flagship smartphone’s shipment price has changed from the previous one means that we are considering a significant change in the market strategy in the future. Is it not?”
In order to lower the factory price, Samsung Electronics applies the FHD+ resolution display to the basic and plus models of the Galaxy S21. This is a lower performance than the Galaxy 20’s QHD+ display. In addition, Samsung Electronics excludes the charger from the basic components of the Galaxy S21 series.
Some estimates that it is unpredictable how consumers will react to some specs and chargers that have been applied downward even when the Galaxy S21’s factory price is cut.
Samsung Electronics will make reservations for the Galaxy S21 for a week from this day to the 21st after hosting the online’Galaxy Unpack 2021′ on the 15th at 0:00 (Korean time).
After that, it will be opened 22-28 days in advance for reservation customers. The official release is on the 29th.
