[국제]’200,000 people died’…the Brazilian president swam with citizens

Controversy is arising as it is known that Brazilian President Zaire Bolsonaro (65) enjoyed bathing in the sea while entangled with citizens.

According to Brazilian media on the 4th (local time), President Bolsonaro visited Praia Grange Beach in Sao Paulo on the 1st while on a family vacation. While riding a boat in the sea, the president jumped into the water when citizens recognized him.

The president surrounded him and enjoyed bathing in the sea with the citizens who gave his name. No one, including the President, wore a mask, and of course he did not follow the guidelines for social distancing. President Bolsonaru shook hands and hugs with citizens of all ages and children.

President Bolsonaro was cured after receiving a confirmation of Corona 19 in July last year. After he was cured, he also showed off his health, saying,’I have an antibody.

In response, Governor Juan Doria Sao Paulo criticized Twitter as “the president’s actions are threatening the lives of the people.” But President Bolsonaro responded by posting on Twitter criticizing some local governments for blocking the beach.

President Bolsonaro has expressed his resistance to social distancing and wearing masks to prevent the spread of Corona 19. He was criticized by the international community for making an absurd remark, “If you get a vaccine, you can turn into a crocodile.” In Brazil, vaccination began on the 16th of last month, but the president emphasized the risk of side effects of the vaccine and is spreading misinformation.

The cumulative number of deaths from Corona 19 in Brazil is the second highest in the world after the United States. As of the 1st, more than 7.7 million confirmed cases of Corona 19 came out, of which more than 195,000 died.
