[경제]Ramen, kimchi, and ginseng with coronavirus…the highest agrifood export history

Last year, Korean agri-food achieved the highest export performance in history and enjoyed worldwide popularity.

Exports such as ramen, kimchi, and ginseng surged thanks to the preference for processed foods amid the Korean Wave fever.

Even in the aftermath of Corona 19, Korea’s agricultural food exports set a record high last year.

It reached $7.57 billion last year, an increase of 7.7% compared to the previous year, the highest growth rate in the last 5-6 years.

Ramyun was the best item for overseas food exports.

In the aftermath of’Zipcock’ worldwide, preference for convenience foods increased, and thanks to the chapaguri of the movie’Parasite’, which won the Academy Award last year, ramen has achieved an export of $600 million for the first time.

The pandemic of Corona 19 was an opportunity to spread the value of Korean traditional food abroad.

As interest in’health’ increased, exports of fermented foods such as kimchi and ginseng reached record highs.

Young foreigners increased their consumption of soybean paste and red pepper paste to try making Korean food at home.

Exports of processed rice foods such as tteokbokki and porridge also increased by more than 26% from a year ago, showing solid growth.

The food industry plans to continue K-food popularity this year by emphasizing the efficacy of Korean food and strengthening marketing in connection with the Korean Wave.
