A teacher who installed illegal photographing cameras in the women’s bathroom at his high school was sentenced to imprisonment.

Court sentenced to three years in prison for hidden camera installation teachers

On the 5th, the Changwon District Law Criminal Tribunal Exclusive Tribunal announced on the 5th that it had sentenced Teacher A in her 40s to three years in prison for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes. In addition, it was ordered to complete 80 hours of sexual violence treatment program and to limit employment for children and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for 7 years.

In June of last year, Teacher A installed a camera on the toilet in the women’s bathroom on the first floor of a high school in Gimhae Han High School where he was working. This camera was discovered by an environmental sanitation worker who was cleaning the toilet after 2 minutes of installation. Victims said, “I’m afraid even to go to the bathroom,” and “we don’t want to live in anxiety.”

In particular, it was revealed through police investigation that Teacher A had installed illegal cameras in schools and training centers where he worked in the past.

The judge pointed out that “the defendant is responsible for teaching, communicating, and protecting students in the whole of social life,” and said, “but with sexual curiosity, the subject of the teaching was targeted for crime.”

He said, “I made the school, the second home and precious learning ground, an ugly place of crime,” he said. “Because of the nature of digital crime, there is a possibility of spreading, so the guilt is heavier and the crime is committed under a detailed and bold plan.”
