Let me tell you the current status of the domestic outbreak of Corona 19 infection.

As of January 5, 672 new confirmed cases were confirmed in Korea, and 43 cases were imported from overseas. The total cumulative number of confirmed cases so far is 64,979.

Currently, 17,800 people are undergoing quarantine treatment and 386 patients with severe gastric disorders.

Yesterday, there were 26 deaths and the cumulative death toll was 1007.

We wish the deceased to be blessed and offer a word of deep consolation to the family.

I will explain the current status of major domestic outbreaks on the previous day.

First is the metropolitan area.

Regarding the second nursing facility in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, 17 additional cases were confirmed during the investigation of contact persons after January 1, and the cumulative number of cases to date is 33.

In connection with religious facilities in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, two additional people were confirmed during quarantine after January 1, and the total number of confirmed cases has been 63.

In relation to the construction site in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, 36 more were confirmed during the contact investigation after the first confirmed case occurred on December 29, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases to date is 37.

As a result of an epidemiological investigation regarding the second religious facility in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, the association with the Bible study group in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do was confirmed, and 15 additional contacts were confirmed during the survey, and a total of 32 confirmed cases so far.

This is Gangwon-do.

In relation to religious facilities in Wonju, 37 additional cases were confirmed during the investigation of contacts after the first confirmed cases on December 30th, and a total of 38 cases have been accumulated so far.

This is Chungcheong-gun.

Regarding the second religious facility in Cheongju, Chungcheongnam-do, 15 more were confirmed during the investigation of the contact after the first confirmed case occurred on December 29th, and a total of 16 confirmed cases have been accumulated so far.

In connection with hospitals in Goesan-gun, Eumseong-gun and Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, 22 additional patients were confirmed during the follow-up of joint quarantines after December 30, and the cumulative number of confirmed patients to date is 281.

Honam area.

During the investigation of contacts at Gwangsan-gu nursing hospital, Gwangju, 13 more were confirmed, so the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 78.

It is the Gyeongbuk region.

Regarding the second religious facility in Gumi City, 13 additional cases were confirmed during the investigation of contacts after December 30, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases so far is 100.

It is the Gyeongnam area.

In relation to the Ulsan Jung-gu missionary organization, 19 additional cases were confirmed during the investigation of contacts since January 2nd, and a total of 119 cases have been accumulated to date.

Today, I would like to explain the viral mutant strains that have recently become a problem and the outlook for the outbreak.

A total of 12 cases have been found in British and South African mutants, which are believed to have increased infectivity.

All of the mutants were found among contacts during the quarantine phase or post-entry, so there are no signs of community outbreaks.

The British and South African mutants have different origins, but have in common that amino acid 501 changes from aspartic acid to tyrosine.

In the case of the British mutant, it is reported that the infectivity has increased, but evidence that it affects the effectiveness of the vaccine and the severity of the disease has not yet been found. Situation.

Mutation is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the life cycle of a virus.

And as long as propagation continues, it is expected to continue.

Most mutations are not a big problem because most mutations appear in areas that are unfavorable to viral survival or do not affect the characteristics of the virus. Analysis is being performed.

The following is an assessment and forecast of the current level of occurrence.

Today, the number of domestic patients was 672, and Tuesday’s count showed less than 700 in almost one month.
