When the United States announced that Iran began enriching 20% ​​of uranium, it accused it of being a kind of nuclear extortion.

According to Reuters on the 4th (local time), an anonymous US State Department spokesman said, “It is a clear attempt to strengthen nuclear extortion for Iran to enrich uranium to 20% in Pordo.”

Iran said earlier this day that the procedure for uranium enrichment to 20% began at the Pordo enrichment facility.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also confirmed that Iran has begun raising uranium enrichment levels.

Iran’s attempt to increase its uranium enrichment to 20% far exceeds the limit set in the nuclear agreement agreed with the United States in 2015.

The reason why Iran’s 20% increase in uranium enrichment is a problem is that if this is achieved, it becomes easier to obtain enriched uranium with a purity of 90% required for nuclear weapons manufacturing.

“Iranian attempts to enrich uranium will continue to fail,” a State Department spokesman warned.
