[미디어SR 정혜원 기자] Hanwha Solutions, celebrating its 1st anniversary, has reorganized its organization to expand investment in new growth businesses.

The purpose is to reorganize the organization in accordance with the large-scale investment plan for the solar and hydrogen business, and to smoothly pursue a mid- to long-term strategy to become a global eco-friendly energy and material company.

Hanwha Solutions announced on the 4th that it has reorganized its organization to strengthen the competitiveness of new growth engine businesses, such as reorganizing the solar power business unit and establishing a new hydrogen technology research center.

On this day, Hanwha Solutions also announced a plan to hire a large number of domestic and foreign experts to strengthen its R&D capabilities.

An official from Hanwha Solutions said to Media SR, “Reorganizing the organization to efficiently operate the organization in accordance with the active investment plan for new and renewable energy.” “There is a plan to recruit a large number of human resources such as researchers and engineers, but the size of each specific field has not been specifically determined. I didn’t.”

Reorganization of the solar power division strengthens the development of global renewable power plants

First of all, Hanwha Solutions expanded and reorganized its global GES (Green Energy Solution) business unit in charge of renewable power generation projects.

The core of the division is to strengthen the capabilities of the new and renewable energy power plant development project by integrating the development, EPC (design, procurement, and construction) and project financing functions that were scattered in several business units into the global GES business unit.

Through this, Hanwha Solutions plans to increase annual sales of 5 trillion won only in the ‘2025 renewable energy power plant development project’.

The expanded and reorganized GES division will be managed by Dongjin Shin, a former Hanwha E&C executive. Shin has experienced construction work in the construction field and is evaluated as the right person to strengthen the power generation project business within the group.

The GES division is advancing not only to solar power but also to wind power projects. According to the trend of increasing the proportion of wind power generation around the world, the company plans to expand the renewable energy power generation business based on the capabilities accumulated in the solar power sector.

To this end, Hanwha Solutions said that it will actively recruit external personnel with extensive experience in the wind power generation business as well as solar power.

Hee-cheol Kim, CEO of Q-Cell, said, “Last year, due to the impact of Corona 19, we were unable to actively engage in power plant development projects.” I will actively engage in the energy generation business.”

In addition, Hanwha Solutions separated from the Korean business unit and established the Korea GES business unit to strengthen the domestic power plant development business.

In addition, it plans to actively enter the domestic renewable energy power generation business in accordance with the ‘9th Basic Power Supply and Demand Plan’ recently announced by the government by hiring new experts on domestic power generation projects.

Establishment of Hydrogen Technology Research Center… Green hydrogen value chain securing speed battle

Hanwha Solutions expanded and reorganized the existing water electrolysis technology development team into the’Hydrogen Technology Research Center’ to strengthen the green hydrogen business. In-wan Son, who has led the field of water electrolysis technology (a technology that produces hydrogen from water), which is the core technology of P2G (power to gas), was appointed as the center head, and external experts were greatly recruited to develop technology for mass production of green hydrogen early. I plan to secure it.

A separate task force (TF) organization is responsible for the green hydrogen demonstration project to be built in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do with Gangwon-do and Korea Gas Technology Corporation.

In addition, in the first half of the year, the introduction of specialized personnel and organizational reorganization to promote the ultra-large hydrogen tank business for transportation and storage following the acquisition of Cimarron, a US high-pressure hydrogen tank company announced at the end of last month, is also scheduled.

Hanwha Solutions plans to employ more than 250 people at home and abroad in the solar and green hydrogen fields this year. Mainly, R&D personnel in the field of next-generation solar power products such as perovskite tandem cells, hydrogen high-pressure tanks, and water electrolysis are targeted.

An official at Hanwha Solutions said, “This organizational reorganization focused on securing capabilities to secure new growth engines for the company.” “Agile organization that can continuously secure talented people based on active investment and respond quickly to changes. I will make it.”
