The number of confirmed cases related to the Eastern Detention Center in Seoul continued to increase, approaching 1,000.

There are endless cases of confirmed cases in nursing homes, religious facilities, and distribution centers.

Up to now, there have been 945 cumulative confirmed cases related to the Eastern Detention Center in Seoul.

In the 4th thorough examination conducted earlier, it was confirmed that 126 additional prisoners were confirmed as well as 5 additional prisoners who were transferred to Gangwon’s northern prison.

The number of confirmed cases is expected to increase further after the 5th total examination tomorrow.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Justice has moved unconfirmed prisoners to the southern prisons in Seoul and the northern prisons in Gangwon, leaving only 1,000 prisoners in the eastern detention center, which has a capacity of 2,000.

However, there are cases of infection again among prisoners who were tested negative and moved to other correctional facilities.

A second confirmed prisoner death was also reported.

One of the two confirmed in a Seoul detention center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do, died.

It is reported that he suffered from high blood pressure, but after being confirmed on the 21st, he was receiving quarantine treatment in a detention center, and his condition worsened.

The Ministry of Justice explained that he tried to evacuate to an external medical facility, but died waiting in an ambulance after being notified that evacuation to a general hospital was difficult.

The Ministry of Justice was belatedly working on countermeasures.

Over the next two weeks, we decided to raise the social distancing of all correctional facilities to three stages, and to strengthen the inmate diagnostic tests.

In addition, general interviews with detainees will be completely discontinued, such as replacing them with smartphones, and interviews with lawyers will be limited.

Yes, first of all, a new outbreak has occurred in a nursing home in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.

After two nursing home officials were confirmed on the 29th of last month, an additional 14 people were tested positive.

As a result of the epidemiological investigation, it was found that although the employees followed the quarantine measures well, most of the residents, who were patients, were not able to avoid infection due to insufficient wearing of masks.

In a hospital in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, after one hospitalized patient was confirmed on the 21st of last month, 12 were added in the contact investigation, and the total was counted as 66.

In the church in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, where the first confirmed cases were released on the 27th of last month, five additional members, including members and families, were confirmed, and the number of related confirmed cases has increased to 61 so far.

The mass infection that occurred at the distribution center in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do is also increasing in scale.

After the first confirmed cases came out on the 29th of last month, 59 more were confirmed, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 80.

Even at the factory in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, 67 people have been infected so far, including 54 employees, since the first confirmed case on the 28th of last month.
