Hydrogen Energy Network (Hinet) announced on the 31st that it will open hydrogen charging stations in 4 locations including Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 in 2021.

Hinet, founded by 13 companies related to hydrogen energy such as Hyundai Motor Company and Air Liquid, recently completed the construction of a hydrogen charging station in Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, Sintanjin Rest Area on Gyeongbu Expressway (toward Seoul), and Chuncheon Rest Area on Jungang Expressway (toward Busan). I plan to open it. When 4 charging stations are newly opened, the number of charging stations operated by Hinet will increase to 10 along with 6 charging stations including the existing National Assembly and Government Complex Sejong.

In particular, if there is a hydrogen charging station at Incheon Airport, it will be possible to operate a hydrogen shuttle bus, which will help spread the image of an eco-friendly country, Hynet explained. IIAC plans to organize a hydrogen shuttle bus route through Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, long-term parking lot, logistics complex, and cargo terminal station.

In addition, in the first half of 2021, a hydrogen charging station will be established at Incheon Airport Terminal 2. The charging station in Terminal 2 is a bus-only hydrogen charging station, and it is expected that 40 hydrogen buses can be charged. The Hinet hydrogen charging station, scheduled to be completed in Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek City, is a complex hydrogen charging station operated by SK Energy, built in the site of a SK Energy gas station and a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) charging station.

The number of hydrogen charging stations created in highway rest areas is also increasing. In addition to the Shintanjin Service Area and Chuncheon Service Area, which will be completed in January, Hinet has also created hydrogen charging stations at highway service areas in Anseong, Hanam, Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province and Seongju, Gyeongbuk. Hydrogen charging stations on expressways are provided by the Korea Expressway Corporation, and complex charging stations operated by businesses that already operate gas stations or LPG charging stations at rest areas, or directly operated by Hinet.

The hydrogen charging station built and operated by Hinet can charge an average of 60 vehicles per day for passenger cars. Based on Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen electric vehicle Nexo, it can charge 5 units per hour, and the charging time takes about 3-6 minutes per unit, and the price is 8800 won per kg.
