According to the consumer price trend for December and annual Gyeonggi Province announced by the Gyeongin Regional Statistics Office on the 31st, the consumer price index this year was 105.86 (2015 = 100), up 0.6% from a year ago.

The annual consumer inflation rate reached 0% for two consecutive years following last year (0.4%). It is the second time that consumer prices recorded an increase of 0% for two consecutive years, following 2015 (0.7%) and 2016 (0.9%).

The consumer price index is an index indexed so that the movement of inflation can be recognized at a glance, and is a value representing the inflation level at the time of comparison when 100 is the reference time.

An official from the Gyeongin Regional Statistical Office said, “This year, the rise in personal service prices slowed down without eating out due to the impact of Corona 19. The long rainy season had a big impact on the price fluctuations of agricultural and livestock products.”

Looking at the consumer price index by category, food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.5%), other goods and services (2.1%), housing, water supply, electricity, fuel (0.6%), health (1.6%), food and lodging (0.7%) , Clothing and shoes (0.8%), alcohol and tobacco (0.4%) rose.

On the other hand, education (-1.7%), transportation (-1.3%), communication (-2.1%), entertainment and culture (-1.1%) declined, while household goods and housekeeping services remained unchanged.

Products rose 0.9% and services rose 0.4%, respectively.

Among commodities, agricultural and marine products rose 10.9%, industrial products fell 0.8%, and electricity, water and gas fell 3.9%.

Among services, rent (0.5%) and personal services (1.5%) rose, while public services (-2.3%) fell.

The living price index, which shows the perceived price, rose 0.6% from last year, and the fresh food index rose 9.2%.

Meanwhile, the consumer price index in Gyeonggi-do in December was 105.86, up 0.1% from the previous month.
