CEO Kim Bum-seok, the founder of Coupang, moves to chairman of the board of directors.
Coupang announced on the 30th that it will change the existing four-member individual representative system to a two-person system starting from the new year. As Chairman, Bum-Seok Kim will be devoted to setting the strategic direction of the company.
The two representatives Kang Seung and Park Dae-joon remain as representatives, and Myeong-ju Ko announced his intention to resign due to personal reasons.
This change of CEO is a measure to further develop Coupang’s business based on specialized role division. CEO Kim Bum-seok plans to devise strategies from a broader perspective and devote himself to creating innovation that improves the lives of customers, and CEO Kang Seung will oversee the operation of the company. Representative Park Dae-joon continues to be in charge of new business areas as before.
